Spreading Awareness in our Local and Regional Community
Magnolia Creek recognizes the critical need for more dialogue, discussion and education about eating disorders in our local and regional community. Promoting awareness of eating disorders and their treatment is a passion for many of our staff. Many of our key staff have been involved with the Alabama Network for Eating Disorders Awareness, the National Eating Disorders Association, the Eating Disorders Information Network, and other similar non-profit organizations.
As part of our own efforts to spread greater awareness and knowledge about eating disorders, Magnolia Creek is pleased to offer the following initiatives:
-
Free Support Groups for individuals and families affected by eating disorders
-
Speaking Engagements and Presentations for schools and groups
-
Special Community Events
Community Service Group for Clients and Alumnae
The women who have come to Magnolia Creek for treatment are a deeply compassionate group and have their own initiative to incorporate service to the community as part of treatment and recovery. Each month, a group of our clients and alumnae meet to have breakfast and perform community service work together. The work serves to provide a positive physical and mental outlet for the participants, as well as foster a sense of camraderie and civic responsibility among them.
