Friends, you and me... you brought another friend... and then there were three... we started our group... our circle of friends... and like that circle... there is no beginning or end.
- Eleanor Roosevelt
Healing and support for recovery from eating disorders does not just take place behind the doors of our center. As part of our community outreach efforts, Magnolia Creek sponsors several support groups - free of charge - for anyone living in the Birmingham Community.
View our events section for current meeting times and locations of our support groups.
EDA "Dinner and A Meeting" Group
Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA) is a fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problems and help others to recover from their eating disorders. The only requirement for participation is a desire to recover from an eating disorder.
Participants meet for each week for dinner (optional) to practice dining together in a supportive environment. Dinner is followed by an EDA meeting, usually facilitated by our executive director, Dr. Nicole Siegfried.
Community Family Support Group
Those who have a loved one struggling with an eating disorder can often feel helpless and alone. That doesn't have to be the case. Our Community Family Support group strives to empower family members and friends with the education and support they need to reach out to a loved one affected by an eating disorder.
The group meets every other week and is led by our family therapist, Anna Stanley.
After Care Therapy Group
Transitioning from treatment can be one of the most difficult times in recovery. Magnolia Creek is committed to providing support and care not only for alumnae of our programs, but also for graduates of other treatment programs who wish to connect with others in recovery.
Led by clinical psychologist, Dr. Chebon Porter, our After Care group meets each week to provide a supportive forum for sharing post-treatment experiences and encourage participants to take charge of their recovery.
